President Speaks

Hello fellow members

Couple of things before I rattle on…about the Mustang on the cover of last month’s newsletter. I know the owner and actually tried to purchase this rough example. This car was purchased by the guy’s dad, who passed away, and the car has been sitting in that driveway for about 20 years. Why the city allows it is beyond me, but Darrin claims he wants to restore it someday and if he sold it, he is of the opinion it is a very valuable car-thanks Barrett-Jackson. So, another example that should be rescued, but never will be. I would also like to congratulate Toppers on their 50th anniversary. I am currently working with one of their members to pursue an all club show at the Fargo Dome and will have more info shortly. The biggest thing is securing a date that will work, but hopefully this is something we can put together.

My other topic this month is change.  The one thing I have learned is life is very, very full of changes and mine is no different.  5 years ago and through my whole life, I was a Chevy guy.  Now look at me, head honcho of the distinguished Ford Club-go figure.  I enjoy the difference and learn every time I put a wrench to my Maverick, as I did this weekend. I am putting my stroker engine in the Maverick after getting it back from getting the body cleaned up a bit.  Ford had 2 flywheels and bell housing sizes, so I am on another parts chase.  Anyway, change is good.  The next car guy you meet may be our next new member or even your next great friend.  Keep an open mind, no matter what you see guys drive and enjoy and spread the car culture.  Seems to me it just keeps getting better and better and I am enjoying every bit of it.

Lastly, prayers are in order for the owner of JW Auto Parts here in West Fargo.  3 weeks ago he was fine and he is now fighting a major battle against cancer.  Hang in there John and get well!!

Your Prez
Dean

From The Editor

Hi Northstar Mustangers,

Well, there is hope that spring could be here! Warmer temperatures and a car show! Good indications. This weekend is Topper’s Car Show in West Fargo. If you can, go over and take a look at the cars. Sounds like the weather should be nice.

Someone asked why I talked to Valley Vintage about alcohol in old cars and not to our club. I said I needed the practice. So at the next meeting I will have a small presentation on the problems with alcohol in old cars. I promise to keep it really short. If you have questions about ethanol or biodiesel, I will try to answer them.

Take a look at the by-laws in last month’s newsletter…bring them with you to the meeting so we can discuss whether or not we should adopt some by-laws. If so, what changes should be made to the what was printed.

Included in this newsletter is a membership list that is current as of April 1, 2008. If there are any errors, please contact Colleen so she can get them corrected. I apologize for the errors in the February listing. I move something and didn’t double check before printing.

The mid-month is Tuesday, April 22 at Happy Joe’s on South University. It seems people like the room we had there better. This is a family event. Let’s hope for a beautiful evening so we can get the Mustangs out for a little drive. It usually starts about 6:00.

Thanks Brenda P for the cover picture for this month’s newsletter. This is a picture from her cruise.

See you Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 at Luther Family Ford.
