President Speaks

Aug 2, 2005,

My Fellow Mustangers...
I am beginning this Presidential address by reprinting the email that I sent out following the Street Fair Car Show. If you have read it before, read it again, because I would like to thank all of you who helped make that event such a success.

July 16 2005:
I think today’s show was this clubs finest moment, I haven’t tallied the receipts yet, though that really doesn’t matter, we had a great day, to those of you who stood out there on the street and watched the entrance in the heat, Thank you.
For you guys that spent the whole day, barely getting out to check out the show, because you were cooking 200 brats and 200 hot dogs. -Thank you!!
To Elton, Colleen, Brenda and Tracy, -- who spent the whole day registering and counting ballots. Great job! You counted and tallied with no wait for the ceremony. THANKS!!
To every one who stepped up when I asked for a simple task, whether it was to put up a sign, run for more buns, go get more ice, man our North Star Mustangs Booth, Thank you! I really appreciated it. No matter who I asked to do something today, you ALL responded and made this show the best ever.
I know I missed some of you, I‘ll think later that I should have mentioned the guys who picked up the trash after the show, or the cardboard collectors, traffic directors, what ever you did. It was YOU that helped make this the best show we have ever put on.

I have one last request today…
While the show is still fresh, please email me 3- THREE thoughts on what we should change for next year…

I received several ideas, and they will be shared at Tuesday nights Meeting. Regrettably I will not be able to attend.  I will leave my thoughts and ideas with my Very Capable Vice President Brenda. She will do a most excellent job leading you thru the discussions of the night. Thanks in advance to you Brenda.

The All Ford show is but a week or so away, I trust that the committee has their items in order. The last time I spoke with Joel at Luther Ford it sounded like we will setup much like we did last year. They were not sure were they will park their pickups, so lets pray for dry weather so that they can be parked in the construction area next door.

We will again be cooking brats and hotdogs, so again, I’m asking for someone to help me grocery shop. Please give me a call or let Brenda know at the meeting if you could help with that task.

Our sound system will again be set up and we will be using our 3 canopy tents so that there may be a bit of shade out on the lot. The rest of the gory details will be shared on Tues night. I have no doubt that you folks will set up to the plate and help out!

If you have photos of the car show, please bring a CD to the meeting, so that Tad can get them posted on the website. Craig would also like a CD for his Christmas Party PowerPoint. So Burn 2!!

Tim would like anyone who had expenses for the car show to bring their receipts so we can finalize that $$$ part of the street fair.

Till next Saturday August 13TH at 7:30 AM Luther Fords Lot, Have a great week!
Todd
(Not feeling very presidential, so I’m just Todd this month.)

From The Secretary

July Meeting – July 12, 2005
We had introductions. Todd gaveled the meeting to order precisely at 6:46.
The minutes were accepted (after some thought of a mistake in them) with Elton motioning and Maggie seconding they passed with unanimity.

Advanced Auto will have a cruise on 31 July.

The Treasurer reported that we had received our sponsors’ checks and will be able to proceed with the show.

Al M would like us to come to the Valley Vintage show in Viking Ship Park on Tuesday, July 19.
We got a report on the Valley City Car Show.  It was very hot.  The Burnout contest was won by the only Mustang that entered.

Downtown Car Show
Brenda will be on the Jack and Sandy Show on Thursday. There will be a message on WDAY announcing the show.
The Poker Run on Friday Nite will start at Sears, proceed to White Diamonds, on to Advanced Auto on 25th and
13th, then on to Quality Auto, a quick run to Vic’s for a burger and lastly to the DQ. (not only a run, but a run on
sentence) it will start at 6:00.
Prez says we need help at the stops.  He got names.  Be at Sears at 5:30 if you volunteered.  The Prez digressed for a period of time. The natives became restless.
Brenda was gaveled to order for rowdy behavior.
The theme for the Downtown Show will be “a Salute to Broadway”. Elton is trying to find Hollywood cars for the show.
Todd needs help with grocery shopping late this week.
Workers for the entrance, food stand, Mustang table, tent setter uppers.
ND School of Science will be running a Monster Garage engine build.
Dave motioned we buy 2 canopies and it was seconded and passed unanimously.
It was mentioned that we need the cardboard from Sabin.
Bag stuffing will be done after meeting.

All Ford Car Show
We discussed all aspects of the All Ford Show (2 min).
Elton motioned and Brenda seconded adjournment and all present cheered.

Mark

From The Editor

Hey Everyone,
We made it through one car show, can we do another?  Special thanks to everyone who helped the day of the show.  I don’t want to start throwing out names because I’m always going to forget someone.   You know who you are…Thanks.  I talked to several people since the show and they really thought it was great.  Several commented on the variety of cars, others on the surroundings (a stroll in the Park).  We had about 144 cars registered.  Good show everyone…I think we did the club proud.

That being said, we need to turn around and do another one!  The All Ford Car Show is Saturday, August 13.  It’s 50 Years of Thunderbird.  So if you know someone with a’Bird, tell them to come.   I’m hoping to see more Thunderbirds than usual and hopefully some new ones.  If you are at the meeting on Tuesday night, let Mark or Brenda know that you are willing to help.  If you cannot make it to the meeting, but can help at the car show, let Mark know or be there bright and early on Saturday morning to help out.  There are lots of things to do from directing traffic, parking cars, judging cars, helping at the food stand….or other jobs.

I won’t be able to make the meeting on Tuesday night, but if you can, please show up.  Help solidify the planning and have some fun.  See you at the car show on Saturday the 13th.

Elton
