President Speaks

Ford people
We had a great car show downtown!  There were 140 cars there and a lot of people.  We raised over $200 for Make-A-Wish, sold out of food, had a great time listening to the Front Fenders, didn’t die of heat stroke, and had a lot of people say “Great show.  We plan on bringing our cars next year.”  So all in all it was a success.  Don’t get me wrong there were some problems.  The CD player didn’t work the, there was no power at the main outlet for the band, and we had some people that couldn’t find the entrance.  There was only one category that didn’t have any entrants, that was the 1900-1931 class.  Which is a surprise, we typically have 2 or 3 model A’s and maybe a model T.  But all the others had lots of cars so we only have 1 first and 1 second place trophy left, not bad.  Thanks to all that made the show a success.  The concessions, the registration, the organizers, the people at the entrance, cleanup, and anybody I missed.  Special thanks to Dean, Todd, Loren, and our sponsors Quality Auto Body and Dakota Bumper.  Also the people that helped out repairing the trailer, that’s what club members are for. Thanks everyone.

The cruise to Buffalo was good too with 21 people.  We had a good time.  Well maybe not Bruce H.  He had a transmission line that leaked and he lost fluid.  He got it fixed thanks to some nice people in Buffalo.  But it did get us thinking about a survival kit for road trips.  What do you need to have along?  Also as you can tell from the article the fluid type is important.  Ford in the early years wanted a positive engaging transmission so they had a different formulation.  This led to hard shifts which some people did not like.  GM let their tranny slip, giving smoother shifts but (in some cases) shorter life.

No I better end this.  This meeting will be our last before the All Ford Show in September.  So it is important to get some issues cleared up, and volunteers lined up.
So see you the 14th at Luther.
The prez
Elton

From the Editor

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone has been enjoying the summer. We had a good turnout for the Fargo Downtown Street Fair Car Show. Thanks to everyone who helped out and a special thanks to our daughter, Tracy, who once again helped with registration and to Darcy who was out in the street collecting entrance fees. The cruise the night before seemed to go well. Thanks to Ken at Quality Auto Body for allowing us to meet there to start the cruise. The people at Bethany homes seemed to enjoy seeing the cars. And thanks to Northside Dairy Queen for allowing us to meet there and for the prizes they gave out.

We had a lot of people at our mid-month trip to Old 10 Saloon in Buffalo even if it was a hot day. It was a beautiful evening for a drive.

We have a couple of former members we would like to welcome back…Vern Skarie and Matt Skarie. We also would like to welcome these new members…Andrea Austin & CJ Novak, Michael & Cindy Spino, Randy Miller and Bill Urie. Bill has been showing cars at our car shows and joined the club now.

Hope to see everyone at the meeting on Tuesday, August 14 at 6:30 at Luther Family Ford and at the All Ford Car Show on Saturday, September 8.

Colleen

From The Secretary

July 10, 2007
Meeting called to order…secretary is not here, so I started to take the minutes. Marv has the hard luck trophy for the All Ford car show done. Objections to last months minutes, Peg objected to “Peg made Dean buy a Maverick Grabber” and Darcy cleaned the grill, not Todd. Arnie moved to accept minutes with corrections/objections and Maggie second. Approved as amended. Treasurer’s report – we have money, gave check to city for use of the park, insurance is paid and ASCAP has been paid. Front Fenders will be playing at the Car Show. Discussion on what we are using as a stage for them. Todd has a line on power. Secretary showed up so see his report on remainder of meeting.

July Meeting – July 10, 2007
6:41 Something happened before, but the secretary was not there so, it must not have happened.
Downtown Car Show talk.
Todd will talk to 106.9 radio about our spots. They are not mentioning our sponsors.
Todd and Dean tested the grill and it works great.
Newspaper ads are placed.
We need a lot of help at the show. Come early and help out.
Friday before the show we will have a cruise starting at Quality Auto at 6:00PM, going to Bethany Homes and then on to DQ.
Dean says the All Ford Show is still in September and we will talk about it after the Downtown show.
Get your membership cards.
New Business
The Mid month cruise will be to Buffalo. Leave from Bonanzaville, leaving at 6:00.
Tad says we are paying monthly for domain hosting. GoDaddy offers 1 year for $85, 3 years for $176 and 5 years for $300. We tabled discussion until after the Downtown show.
The Secretary was late because his daughter Lauren just got her permit and drove for her maiden voyage to the meeting in a Mustang.
Brenda wants calendar photos.
Dean sold his Mustang, named something or another and it is going to a good home in California.
Myths were debunked and hoaxes spread.
Craig went to a car show in Warroad and saw some neat Marvin Windows cars.
Todd said the Valley City show was good and the food was even better.
Elton forced us to work on mailers.
We Adjourned.

Mark

Other Notes

I’m not exactly sure what the plan is for the mid-month. It says Progressive BBQ and Poker Run. Hope to get more details at the meeting. If you cannot make the meeting, check your e-mail as Todd will probably be sending out some information. If you can’t make it to the meeting and don’t have e-mail, give us a call and we’ll give you the information.

Following is a condensed version of an e-mail received from Brekken’s.

Thank you to all of you who helped in one way or another with our wheelchair trailer.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to help out in a time of need. Without the trailer, we would not have been able to get Travis home as his wheelchair obviously will not fit in the Mustang's trunk. His chair is essentially his "legs" and ability to be able to have some independence. We made it home without any problem thanks to all of you.

Special thanks to Josh for obtaining the parts we needed and to Todd for the use of his pick-up (even though Shawn volunteered to go if he could use the Lightening pick up next to us)!!!

And also special thanks to Colleen and Elton for all the phone calls to locate parts and to Elton for getting the tools he provided.

Again thanks for taking the time away from your enjoyment of the car show to help us out. You are a great bunch of people and reflect the Mustang Club's great reputation.

Hope to see you in September.....
Vince, Marie and Travis Brekken
