President Speaks

Greetings club members!

Well we all survived our first show of the year. One down and one to go and I am sure Mark has everything in order. Right Mark!! So, a few thoughts about the show. Weather seemed to hurt attendance with a car count of 102 and the weatherman/person kept saying rain but there was only a few drizzles-hardly a washout. I am very impressed with the support given us by local businesses and I think the "goodie bags" were well received. We had plenty of food and have enough beverages left over for the all Ford show. That being said, we made some money this show so at least if we rain out at the next one we are still in good shape. Brat sales were good, but the rolls and juice did not fare so well. 142 lunch tickets were turned in and we sold about 240 extra brats and hot dogs. Maybe next year we can do the show free and live off food sales and sponsor support-thoughts?? I would like to thank all who assisted-we had plenty of help setting up and tearing down which is greatly appreciated. I see some room for improvement in getting donated door prizes and maybe some help the day after the show sorting through the trailer and doing some organizing. Every show we do makes us a bit wiser. Again thanks to all that helped.

Remember, this month’s event is the picnic in the park. Thanks again,

Dean

From The Editor

Hey Club Members!
The Downtown Street Fair Show went well. Thanks for all the help and participation. We had lots of people there. I am always surprised when some one comes up to me and says “I wish I had known about it I would have brought my car.” We have been doing the show for 5 or 6 years now, one would think they would have heard about it. It would help if the Street Fair would mention it in their ads. I talked to people who had cars there and they really liked the show and were happy. Several said the pictures were the best that they had of their cars! So thanks Dave S. for helping out and taking great pictures. I think we need to do some refining of the methods like how the pictures were handed out and how the door prizes were given away, but all in all a good show.

Greg F. asked me about his brake lights. He doesn’t have any! He asked if there was a fuse and I don’t think there is on a 65-66 Mustang, if there is it is in the light switch. Now the brakes should work with the key on or not (like the head lights). If the turn signals work the bulbs and the wiring to the back are good. That leaves the brake light switch and the part I forgot, the turn signal switch. There should be power at the brake switch always and it feeds the turn signals. Now the turn signals override the brake light so it can blink for the turn even with the brakes on. So check to see if the brake switch has power and is working if it is then it is the turn signal or the wiring to the turn signal switch.

Our All Ford Show is before the September meeting so we have some things to discuss about that at this meeting. And we have the mid-month picnic coming up August 26 at Elmwood Park in West Fargo. You are to bring your own plate, eating utensils and beverage. The food will be provided.

Again, thank you to everyone who helped at the Downtown Street Fair Car Show. Remember the All Ford Car Show in September. Please show up and help out if you can. See you at the meeting August 12 at Luther.
