President Speaks

Hello and a very Happy New Year to all.

I hope all had a wonderful Christmas and look forward to a bountiful 2009.  Speaking of 2009, I would like to remind everyone we need to get a jump on our upcoming shows and events and we are in need of people to chair these events.  We also need folks to be on an event committee as the time is here.  January also kicks off with the first car show of the year for those that are interested.  It is in Jamestown, ND on January 24th in the Civic Center.  They do not charge to enter a car and they even feed you 3 meals if you have a car in their show.  And trust me, they feed you very well.  If interested, contact Monte @ 701-320-9108 or 701-251-1710.  They also have a website @ Jamestown Classic Car Club.  You can also e-mail Monte @:  Unclemonte@daktel.com.   If you choose to not show a car, perhaps a trip down to look at their show and what they offer would be a good way to spend a Saturday.  We are planning on being in the show.  Also a reminder Toppers and Prime Steel in Grand Forks are not too far away.  I like when those shows are here because it means the snow will be or is gone and better weather is coming soon.  With that, please come to the meeting support your club.  Thanks to all.

Your President,
Dean

From The Editor

Happy New Year Ford lovers!

The Christmas Party was very nice…good food and lots of fun.  Thanks to everyone who was able to come.  Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that Santa was good to you.   For those of you who wondered why you didn’t get a December newsletter…our apologies.  We had a very full schedule at our house…our son-in-law and two grand-daughters came the Saturday after Thanksgiving and were here for the week.  Our son-in-law was working in Fargo, our daughter was in Australia for work and Colleen was taking care of the grand-daughters.  Elton was busy with work, the end of the semester and meetings and there was no time to do a newsletter.   We thought we would do one before Christmas, but again ran out of time.  Heidi and family were here for the week of Christmas so we had another very busy week with them.   This past weekend we moved Tracy to Minneapolis where she is working.  The past two months have been very busy for us.

As we start the new year, maybe we could all make a resolution to help out the club in some way…helping plan mid-month activities, helping with one of the car shows, or in whatever way you can.  We need everyone’s help…not just a few.  Letting us know what types of events you would like to attend, or suggestions for newsletter articles helps.  Do you want to get together for a meal somewhere, is there some place you would like us to go or do as a group ?

As I was paging through a 1970 Ford Shop Manual I found the article for this newsletter.  Now, I had no idea that Ford was so far ahead of the curve.  Who would have thought that back then they tried run flat tires!  Has anyone ever seen one?  I hadn’t heard of them, much less seen one, so I thought it would be of interest.  Kind of like the inflatable spares.   I found an inflatable spare tire (no rim) in my quonset.  From what I hear, you can’t use the rim for a regular tire with it, so I wonder where the rim went.  Oh well, enjoy.

Dues for 2009 are $15.00 and there is no club calendar this year.  Please get your dues to us soon.

See you on Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 pm at Luther Family Ford.
