President Speaks

Dec 7, 2005
My fellow Mustangers,
Alas, I have reached the twilight of my presidency.  This shall be my last address to you in this form, so I write with both sadness and a great bit of glee J Hooray!! I'm done !!! Yipppeeee!!!!  I do wonder what my future holds, as being the president of such an esteemed organization, where is one to go from here?  Maybe the UN will make me their new Chairman, or perhaps there is a group of children in need of a captain of kickball team?  All I know is I may never be Grand PooBaa again, unless someone buys be a fez and lets me ride in the back of a pickup playing a pipe organ in the Shriner's Parade! now that would be cool...
Yet I have to write one last page of coherent thought:
I know the club is going to be in great hands, we had an election last month and voted in a great new president - "The honorable Chad Parton".  Although Chad is one of our newer members, he stepped up to the job and he will be a great leader.  From the sounds of it, he has already called his group of officers together and they may even have a game plan or direction.  Great way to start!  I know also that our new officers Brenda, Mark, Elton, Colleen and Dean Skaflen will do their best to help Chad.  - I know this because they are the same group of folks that helped me.

Thank you, Dean for stepping up as our newest treasurer, as well as food provider/steak cooker. I also would like to thank our
past treasurer, Tim Dahlsad, we always had money so Tim did his job well.
A couple other people this retiring prez would like to thank, in no particular order J
Tad for his great work on the website,
Craig for all the hours of hard work planning 3 in a row great car shows downtown.
Dean Harold, for helping flip burgers and brats for 5 steak fries and 3 car shows.
Brenda for putting together yet another wonderful calendar.
Dave Sampson for all the pictures and the newsletter cover layouts.
Colleen and Elton for putting up with my last minute ramblings for the last 25 newsletters.
Mark, for all the eloquent, kind words, used in your minutes describing my disjointed meetings.
Ralph, the one guy I could always count on to help make all those phone calls.
All of you that helped at all the events, from parking, judging, cooking, balloting, guarding the Y lot, putting up tents, chasing after more groceries, providing prizes, taking pictures and making chili. I'm sure I missed a lot - like, making dash plaques - Marv J or cutting cardboard, arranging dinner events at places like happy Joes, the Galaxy Night Club and Haggees in Mapleton, in so many ways you each helped to make our club grow and prosper. Whether I listed it or my feeble mind missed you, I did appreciate it and I would like to thank you all.
Thank You Joe Bechtold and all at Luther Family Ford who have supported our club with a beautiful place to meet, provided us with some fun events, and hosted our past 2 car shows. You have made us feel welcome every month, and on behalf of the club, Thank You.
our club has grown; we have started doing some charitable donations which is great! Also we have acquired several new items along the way, a sound system, 4 banquet tables, some new signs, a couple of tents, and now, our latest investment, a place to store everything, as well as a means to get ti to our events. We have purchased a 6 x 12 utility trailer, after years of saving, we will not longer have to rely on several trips with pickups, or borrow a trailer. Now our "stuff" will have a home.
All in all, it's been a great 2 year - one month, run. I am proud of our accomplishments, and even prouder of our members, because or you the members and our guest participants, you made the last 2 years something i will always remember fondly. Thank you all for putting up with my 25 newsletter rantings, 23 meetings, and a host of other events we've shared. Here's to a great future. You'll do great Chad, and we're here to help. Merry Christmas and the happiest of New years.

Yours truly,
President, Northstar Mustangs Car Club
Todd Fuchs

Todd Fuchs was the 8th president of the Northstar Mustangs Club, he and is loving wife Darcy will enjoy his Presidential retirement

From The Secretary

November Meeting – November 8, 2005

6:37 Todd "The Prez" gaveled the meeting smartly to order as he gently caressed the gavel. A good friend which wold soon move on.

Mark rambled on about his time in Mississippi and his minutes were accepted. Sorry Colleen for stealing you thunder.

Todd talked about the club buying a trailer. There were some leads. Everyone kind of wanted the Northstar Mustangs Logo on it. The question was asked if we wnated to seek sponsorships for it. jon motions we offer $2500 for a trailer Todd saw. Mark motioned we nominate a committee and authorize them to buy a trailer. Chad 2nds and it was unan. The committee consists of Jon and Todd.

Todd rambled on about decals, not ready it went no where.

We talked of shirt, move to use logo from shirt on trailer by Brenda and Todd 2nds, unan.

we will be ordering coats.

The Christmas party will be on meeting night and at the Marriot in Moorhead. It will cost $20 and desert is included. Get your reservations in and bring your money. Colleen and Chad will make calls to get a head count.

On the subject of calendars, Brenda says they will be ready for the next meeting and will be $10 with the club picking up 9 cents each.

New Business
We will talk to the Fargo Theater about a car fanatic movie night to show the old and new "Gone in 60 Seconds".

We should look into a class on judging for car shows this winter.

Elections
Mid month committee - Craig says we should appoint in January.
Webmaster - Marv moves we elect Tad, and it was unan.
Editor - Elton and Colleen nominated to do it again
Downtown Car Show - Craig volunteered to do it again
All Ford Show - no resolution
Secretary - Larry moves we elect Mark, and it passes with muttered unanimity.
Treasurer - We had a runoff between Greg F. and Dean S. After many recounts, a close vote elected Dean. no good deed goes unpunished.
Vice President - Brenda and Dave S. were nominated and in a race almost too close to call (we needed the instant replay) Brenda won.
President - Choo, Choo, Larry moves nominations cease, Jon 2nds and Chad is elected unanimously.
The King is dead, long live the King. someone please pry the gavel from Todd's hands and pass it on to Chad (was that a hanging Chad)
The slacker secretary ran off. Colleen was left to record anything of interest.

Discussion about gifts. If you have a "white elephant' gift, wrap it and bring it. May have some gift certificates to draw for...something about turkey raffle.

Brenda moved to adjourn. Meeting adjourned. (Glad to have you back, Mark!!)

From The Editor

Merry Christmas Everybody!
It's that season when everyone is wishing for something, yeah you guessed it, another Mustang!  Or at least parts for the one you have.

This is the last meeting that the old officers will be in power. What little power they had.
So make sure you are there to show how much you appreciated their serving for the last year. It is also the start of our new year so we get to meet the new officers. You can pay your dues for the next year at this time or in January. Membership runs from January to January. Remember the Christmas party is not in the same place as last year and you need to let Todd f. know if you are going to be at the Christmas Party. he needs to have a count.

This is also a good time to ask if anyone has any ideas for articles in the newsletter. if I have an idea of what you would like, I can see what I can find. So if you have some thing that you would like an article on, or if you have an article you think others would enjoy that is about 1-2 pages or can be shortened to 2 pages, let me know or send it tom me by mail or e-mail. Even if you only have an idea, I would like to know. It is difficult after awhile to find new articles. Do you want articles on new or older cars? Let me know. We have done member profiles in the past with a picture of your car on the front cover. We could do that if you would like.

The same goes for the mid-month events. The committee would love ideas of things you would like to do. Remember this is your club. if you have an idea for a meeting program, newsletter, or mid-month event, don't be afraid to let someone know.

If you have a car or parts for sale or that you would like to buy, let us know and we can put your ad in the trading post. also, if you have an ad in there and you no longer are looking to buy or sell that item, please let us know so we can remove it and make space for other ads.

Remember the meeting this month is at the Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead. This is our annual Christmas Party with a meal. The cost is $20 per person and we need to know in advance if you are going to attend. if you have not responded to Todd's e-mails, signed up at the last meeting, or been called and you wish to attend... Call Todd NOW. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 with the meal being served about 7:00, followed by a program or something. This year we are asking you to bring a wrapped "white elephant gift"...Mustang or Ford related, if you wish, which will then be given away in a drawing. this is a fun holiday evening. See you there!

We wish you all a merry Christmas and Happy New Year! we hope you have all been good so Santa will bring you that Mustang or Ford that you have been dreaming about!

Elton & Colleen
