President Speaks

February 2006
Hello Ford and Mustang Enthusiasts!

I just got done looking at my calendar, and realized that I had better get this out to Colleen pretty soon as we have pushed the monthly meeting up to February 7.  I am still not sure why the 14th is such a bad time, Valentines Chili Cook-off and all!

I would like to thank Greg F for volunteering to be on the mid-month committee for 2006.  I have also asked/cajoled/coerced Dean S. and Tad B. to be on the committee also.  We are planning to have our first meeting in the near future to discuss what we would like to do, and what we need to do.   Thinking along those lines, we still need a committee chair for the All Ford Car Show, and hopefully some volunteers to help out the lucky person… Please volunteer so we can have another great event like last years’.

I received an email from Loren K. this month, letting us know that the polo shirts have arrived at “Sew What”.   Please call Roger at (701) 277-0920 to verify that your name is on the list, and verify the shirt size you need.  As we discussed, the polo shirts are yellow with royal blue lettering, and the club logo, and the cost is $20/shirt.

Brenda P. emailed me a couple of weeks ago also. Brenda wanted to let me know that the calendars are in, and that you can either call her to set up a time to get your calendar, or she will bring them to the meeting this month for distribution.

Kristina brought back newsletters and t-shirts from the Vintage Mustang Owners Association (VMOA) in San Jose, CA.  VMOA was very surprised that there were Mustangs up here, let alone a club up in the northland, and are interested in exchanging club memorabilia.  Elton is going to look to see what we have from our vintage collection to give them.

Items for discussion in February:
 Collector car food baskets
 Mid month committee update
 Toppers car show
 Items to send to VMOA
 Is/was the chili good
 Other

I am looking forward to seeing you all on February 7th.

Chad Parton, Prez.

From The Editor

Hey everybody
It’s February so that means chili contest time. If you have a strong stomach or a lot of antacid, this meeting is for you.  If you wish to enter, the fee is high… bring some chili.  We are meeting in the Luther Ford Break room that is on the same floor as the meeting room but the opposite direction from the elevator.  You don’t need to bring much or any at all but you do have to vote for the best.   Now remember this is to celebrate Carroll Shelby’s Birthday, so there is chili, chips and sherbet, so come on out.

Remember the meeting is the first Tuesday this month only.  We did this with the infinite wisdom of people who have done stupid things and learned (usually after the third or fouth time) that some things are just bad ideas.   Somehow most members thought a stimulating club meeting and a chili feed on Valentines Day was a bad idea.  I don’t know, an evening with nice people and a good meal seems ok by me.  But smarter people prevailed (oh great, now I suppose I have to take Colleen and Tracy someplace for supper… let’s see Arby’s or Culver’s, hmmmmm.) and our meeting was moved to February 7th.  (That’s what he thinks!  Tracy and I will opt for something else!)

When I was down in the parts department they showed me a catalog that had some neat stuff in it.  For instance, a purse that is the top of a ’65 front seat and the handle is part of a steering wheel!   There are also GT and Cobra purses.  Sounds like a Valentines Day gift for the Mustang lover’s wife.   What do you think?

Check out the mid-month activity after the Secretary’s minutes.  We’ll see you at the annual chili cook off at Luther Family Ford on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 6:30 pm.

Elton
