President Speaks

Hello Ford fans!

Well, July is already here and our big show is around the corner.  Peg, Todd, and myself as well as other club members have been handing out flyers at area events.  Cruise night and OK Tire event are the latest events we covered.  The Island Park show will be our mid-month event.  I would really encourage as many of you as possible to attend, participate and assist with this fun show.  The setting in the park makes this especially pleasant and the groves of folks that come through the park is huge!  Our goal is to try to get 200 cars to attend this year and I think this is possible, especially since traveling out of town is getting expensive.  Also, just as last year, the fabulous Front Fenders will provide great family music and entertainment for all.  So please, if you do not make the next meeting, please make every effort to get to the Island Park event and support your club.  Peg and I will have an open house at our home for all club members after the show, with snacks and beverages and an air conditioned garage.  It seems to usually be quite warm that day so some cool down time always feels good.

Lastly, I am sorry for all the hassles with the picnic we had planned. Mother Nature has been a bit unfair this year and it has created a number of changes in show events.  The shelter rent has been paid so we just need a new date and will reschedule this.  Bring your thoughts to the next meeting and we can get this sorted out.  Thanks for everyone's club support!!!

Your Prez
Dean

From The Editor

Hi Northstar Mustangers,

Now this is summer!  I could do without the mosquitoes and maybe even a little less heat.  I’m Norwegian, I do better in the cold.

With the gas prices what they are, one wonders what will happen at car shows/cruises and just goofing around.  Some people may not drive their car or they may opt for shows that are closer.  You never know, this could be a good year for our car shows because they don’t mean as much driving.

That brings up our car shows.  We are always looking for help parking, concessions, set up and tear down, among other things.  Let us know if you are going to be there and are willing to help.  We are hoping for a good turnout and that starts with the club members.  This is one chance to help the club and have fun at the car show.

The OK Tire Car show had close to 200 cars with lots of different cars.  More old cars (20-30) than I’ve seen in the past.  Also, there were a lot of foreign cars which is not typical.  Some unique cars, also an Avante, a dream car and lots of hot rods.  Todd and Darcy were dropping flyers in the cars.  I drove my 64 ½ and in reminded me that I need a throwout bearing at the very least.  Need to work on my shop first.  Oh well.

See you at the meeting on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:30!

Elton

From The Secretary

June 10, 2008

President gavels meeting to order.

Loren moved to accept minutes as written, Elton seconds. Approved.
Treasurer reports that we have money.  We have received some of the money for the car show.  Donation was made to Make-a-Wish from last year’s people’s choice ballots.

Discussion on Downtown Street Fair Car Show.  Agreement has been signed with Park Board.  Only trophies will be special trophies.  Need some giveaways.  Tim got a radio station package for advertising.  There will be a hospitality booth in the morning for breakfast.  We got some donations for food and looking at some other possibilities.

Mid-month is a picnic on June 19th at Armour Park in West Fargo.  Cruise night has been moved to that night.  They need a couple of people to sit in front of Fargo Theater.  OK Tire car show is June 12.  Decision made to move the picnic to June 26th.  Tad will send e-mail to all members.

Wayne said he has a collection of model Mustangs and was wondering about displaying them at a car show.  Should set it up at the All Ford Show.

Ralph is selling his black 88 GT convertible.  He got hit from behind.  The back quarter panel and light on the driver’s side is damaged, but the car is drivable.

Elton moved to adjourn.  Todd seconds.  Meeting adjourned.

Colleen (Mark was absent)
