President Speaks

Howdy horse lovers,
Well now, if it warms up and dries up some, it will really feel like summer.  This is not supposed to be the rainy season.

Sorry I missed the mid-month at Hooligans, but as President felt it was my responsibility to NOT pass the flu on to the rest of the club!  Besides, I really didn’t feel like looking at food.  So I’ll need a complete report at the meeting.

I suppose I should recount the Apple Valley Ford Car Show adventure.  We started with a bang.  I left home without my billfold, so I had to back track and get it.  Tim D and I met at the Moorhead rest area and then met the other driver on the road to form the caravan.  Everything was going great until we were on 494 in the Cities.  Tim said he had a vibration in his car.  I guess!!! The right front was bouncing all over.  After a quick tire change (and airing of the spare), on we went.  Good reason to caravan.  (Oh, did I mention the rain and questionable clouds on the way?  (At the the motel, we met Craig J.  Tim showed him the tire with the bulge and then proceeded to lock his trunk key in the trunk!  Oh Boy!!  I tried the key from Travis’s car but it didn’t work.  Oh well.  Tim’s son Ethan tried to take the back seat out while we registered at the motel.  When I came out I tried the key again and after some wiggling, it opened!  Saved!  Then we got to the Ford dealership and they had locked the gate.  Luckily some people from the local car club had a key to another gate so we were able to get them locked in.  Sunday morning…rain!  Nice show, more super chargers than I’ve seen in a long time.  They had lots of Cougars, pickups, 2 GT 40’s, Marauders (one with a blower on it), 80’s Mustang with 460 cid, and lots of Mustangs.  The show was not as big as previous years because of the rain. Dave D got 3rd and Travis got 1st in the 1970’s class.  Craig J got 2nd in his class.  After a bit of a mix-up about meeting up for the trip back, we had an uneventful but wet trip back.  It was a good time.

We will need progress reports on our car shows.  See you at the meeting at Luther Family Ford, Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 pm.

Elton

From the Editor

Hi Everyone,

I think we have enough rain for the time being.  We need some more nice weather so we can get those Mustangs out for a drive.  Had a nice trip to the Cities last weekend in Travis’ 71 Mach 1.  A little noisy, but it’s about the same in our Mustang!!  A lot of nice cars at the car show in Apple Valley.  Did anyone go to the show in Devil’s Lake?

Don’t forget the Mid-month activity at Elmwood Park in West Fargo on Tuesday, June 28.  Bring a food item to share…

See you at the meeting, Tuesday, June 12, 2007.

Colleen

From The Secretary

May Meeting – May 8, 2007
6:36 Prez gaveled the meeting to order after indecisive discussion of whether we should.
Secretary’s Report – Tom A moved and Todd F seconded that we accept the minutes, after recognizing the secretary’s objections to the lack of note of wrong dates. Approved as read.
Treasurer’s report by Dean (after complaint of being called irresponsible) – we have money. Dean will pick up grill on Friday.
The editor is looking for new/different stuff for the for sale section. Tom L reviewed his posts.
Old Business
Car Shows
Downtown Street Fair show – we need money to buy trophies and other needs for the show.
All Ford – Dean was not worried.
New Business
Prez wants to know if we want membership cards. After long boring discussion, Elton will come up with a simple card with more/better to follow.
Tom L is back from Iraq – Welcome back Tom.
Todd will have a Ribbon Cutting on Tuesday.
June 7th, we will work the downtown Cruise Night, be there by 4:00.
Tom A. wants a picnic. We will have one for him on June 26th.
Mark moved we adjourn, Brenda 2nds and it passes over the objections of Todd and Tom.

Mark

Mid Month Activities

Our Mid-month for June is a Picnic at Elmwood Park in West Fargo. Follow 13th Avenue South across Sheyenne Street. Take a right immediately after you cross the bridge over the Sheyenne River.

I believe there will be brats or hot dogs being grilled. Please bring a food item to share…salads, chips, veggies, dessert…whatever. If you have any questions, give us a call. This is a family event…so bring your spouse, bring your children and lets get together for a fun time.

So get your Mustang or whatever out and join us at one of these events. If you don’t have your Mustang ready to drive…come in what you are driving. You don’t need to drive your Mustang to take part in these events.

Remember the Downtown Street Fair Car Show is coming up next month…July 21. Hope to see you there. Volunteer to help out even if it is only for a couple of hours.

Discount on your treats at the Dairy Queen on North University Drive. If you have a card from a couple years ago, that will still work. Hopefully, we will have a membership card for you at the June meeting!!
