President Speaks

Hello Ford lovers

Time sure flies when your having fun. It seems I just finished my last letter, but here we go again.   Hopefully, now that we are into March, we will see the white stuff start to go away and can soon get our toys out.

Last Saturday, the events committee finally had a chance to meet and the scheduled events are listed below.   Some are new and different as we try to have a reasonable variety for all and of course, food seems to be a lot of what we like also.

Lastly, here are a couple Ford "did you know" tidbits for you to ponder - Ford considered 60,000 names before settling on the Edsel – starting this year all NHRA top fuel and funny cars will carry the Ford Racing Blue Box crash sensors in an effort to improve car safety - and finally, some of you know this already, but the new "Knight Rider" movie will use a Mustang instead of the Pontiac Firebird, so it looks like "KITT" finally has some style.  So with that, here are the scheduled mid-month events:

March 8th- Swap meet at West Fargo fairgrounds-with Easter so early we choose something basic
April 22- Happy Joe's/West Fargo pizza night - $5.00 adults/children free - all you can eat
May 18-a day at Interstate Dragways-we will have a display area-racing your car is optional-steak fry @ 1:00 - I will provide No Name steaks
June 19-Summer Picnic-details later
July 19-Island Park car show-Please try attend and help out!!
August 26-Cruise to Zorba's/Lake Cormerant
September 13-West Fest parade with car show at Payroll Express
October 25-color run
November 25-bowling night
December 9-meeting and Christmas Party at the Air Museum-catered meal with gift exchange

Any other new ideas are always welcome.  This is your club, so please feel free to make any and all suggestions.
Have a great one.

Your Prez
Dean

From The Editor

Hi,
This winter will end, won’t it??  Well, we know it will, but anytime now will be good.  We have several members who haven’t renewed their dues.  Some may still renew and we always lose a couple every spring.

We’ve included a sample of the proposed by-laws for everyone to review.  Let us know if you have any suggestions/corrections or additions.  Read it over and come to the meeting on Tuesday, March 11 or e-mail/mail us your ideas.

Soon spring is coming, a sure sign is that Topper’s Car show is less than a month away.  I mention this for three reasons.  First, if you plan to enter your car, you better do it quick.   Second, if we want a club display, we need to put something together.  Finally, we have been “volunteering” our assistance the Friday before the show for set up and the two days of the show.   So, if you would be willing to help out, let me know.  If you are planning on entering your car, let’s see if we can get a few members together to enter as a group.  Each car is judged separately and the club display is also judged.

Hopefully, we will have some nice weather soon and we can get our cars out and drive them.  There was some discussion last month about doing a photo shoot at the air museum or at the Kindred airport.

See you at the meeting, Tuesday, March 11.

Elton and Colleen

From The Secretary

February 12, 2008

We ate.
The smart ones sat by the food.

Prez told us to vote for our favorite chili.

Secretaries report – Todd has issues (What’s new)- he was ignored, Shawn moved and Maggie 2nds we accept and it passes unanimously.

Treasurer Report – We have money.

The mid month committee hasn’t met, they assure us they will meet by next month.

Old Business
Car shows – nothing yet.  Prez wanted to discuss our cost and benefits of the car show.  Should we raise the entry and have more stuff for entrants?
We discussed things.

Blah, blah, blah.  People looking for crap at swap meet.

New Business
We looked at some by-laws.
Meeting degrades to chaos.
Prez lost control.

Tom went to the Air Museum and talked to Fran about using the museum for our Christmas party.  They would rent the facility for a flat fee and we would have to provide catered food and BYOB.  He also talked to her about a Mustang Day with the P-51.  Shawn recommended the Carnivore Club as a caterer.

Shawn motioned to form committee to look into Christmas party at the Air Museum.  Todd 2nds.  Todd will help Shawn and they will report back next month.

Marks Chili won the people’s choice and he was given a stunning Ford mug.  Peg with her tendency to name things named my chili.  I would have hoped with her normal aptitude for naming that maybe it would be something like “Christine”, but she came up with “chili from hell”.

Todd wants to know if anyone knows where he can find a 63½ Ford Galaxie frame.

Elton moves and Ralph 2nds we adjourn and it passes by unanimous consent.
Adjourned.

Mark
