President Speaks

May 3, 2005
Greetings my fellow Mustangers,

Spring has arrived!! (I think??)  Time to get your horses out of the barn!!  Craig and Tim are again hosting our May meeting at their Mustang stable located just down I-29 a bit in beautiful rural St. Benedict ND.  If you were at last falls steak fry you know where it’s at.  If you missed it, or spent the evening cruising southern Cass County, its easy to find:  South I29 to the Wild Rice Exit (56).  Go west to the St. Benedict frontage road down along the west side of I29.  Go south ˝ mile -there is a group of farmsteads on the west side of the road, turn right to the shop on the left side of the road.

Our main man, Dean Skaflen, is providing the No Name Steaks once again so if you like ‘um at the cook-out buy ‘um at the store!!  Elton and Colleen are handling the potato part so if you can bring a salad, dessert item or vegetable tray that would be cool.  You also have to bring your own plates, utensils and of course, your own drinks.

Couple of things to discuss at our meeting night:  Craig has a line on a PA system that we may purchase as a club for our outdoor events, if you know of a better deal (like maybe your uncle is a washed up rock star that gave you his stuff,) let us know about it.

Speaking of Craig, he has not had a lot of time for progress on our “Club Member rides” section for the website, he is pleading patience on our behalf and possibly some assistance from someone with web experience to help out. If you wish to give him a hand I know he would appreciate it. Get with Craig at the meeting.  –thanks J (da prez)

The mid month guys are working on the details for our mid-month cruise, last I heard it was out to Aire, ND to visit a museum of sorts, a great place for a photo shoot with your car. I will probably have to get more info at our meeting. Check the website or Contact Ralph or Tom Askland if you cannot make the meeting.

Craig mentioned to me that he and Tim have acquired a few shop items that they will be peddling at the meeting. They thought it may be kind of fun to have a mini swap meet, if you have a handful of items that you have no more use for, and think it may be helpful to get another members Mustang back on the road, bring it, mark it with tape, your name, price.

The all Ford Show guys should have their posters ready to pass out, 50th Anniversary of the Thunderbird this year!!

'Till Tuesday! See ya!

Your President,
Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson, our 7th President, was a major general in the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans. (This humble president enjoyed his 1 dollar beers on Bourbon Street, New Orleans a few weeks back.)

From The Editor

Hey Everybody!

Will we ever have summer?  I thought it was here in April, but no such luck.  I received an e-mail from Robert Dolan who gets our newsletter as our contact with the Mustang and Fords of the Dakotas Car Club in Bismarck.  I thought it was something everyone should be aware of, if for no other reason than to understand some of the problems with internet.  His story is part of the article for this month.

I was told that I needed to talk about the barbecue we are having for the May meeting.  The club will provide steaks and grill them.  We will also have potato salad.  So what do you need to bring you ask….Plate, silverware, beverage of choice, a CHAIR, and yourself.

Now for how to get there…Take I-29 south about 5 miles to Exit 56.  After you get off interstate, turn right, then a left onto the frontage road that runs along the interstate.  Take that heading south about a mile to 112th Ave, turn right and you should find it on the south side of the road.  Unless you are really early, you should hopefully see a bunch of Mustangs.  These steak fries are a lot of fun, car talk and just a good time to get together. Oh, did I mention there is also a meeting?? See you Tuesday night, May 10.

Elton & Colleen

From The Secretary

April Meeting – April 12, 2005

6:37 Meeting gaveled to order, loudly.

The Prez welcomed us to Spring!!! With enthusiasm.

Secretaries Minutes – Mark moved we accept Colleen’s outstanding minutes, Larry 2nds and they were accepted unanimously.

Old Business

The mid month meeting for March was in Mapleton at Hagges. It was a great turnout, 18 people and some Mustangs.

The Downtown Show Committee (Tim) said we would have a cruise on Friday before the show. It might start at Sears and proceed to White Diamonds, then to Advanced Auto, on to Quality Auto Body, over to Vic’s Lounge and finally to DQ. Probably because they haven’t asked permission of the locals. Should be fun.

The All Ford Show committee (Mark, Greg and Christine in attendance) said we would have a show and we should have a poster.

Someone said Advanced Auto will give club members a 10% discount.

Prez apologizes for everything (something about Craig and the West Fargo paper I zoned out)

The Mid-month meeting will be a pizza party at Happy Joe’s. Bring quarters if you have kids. 26 April at 6:00.

We talked some about Toppers and Prime Steel which is next weekend, the 23rd and 24th of April.

Ralph reported for the Mid Month Committee that there would be mid month meetings. Stay Tuned.

Welcome to Ethan. He has a ’67 Mustang hardtop which he is going to put a 302 stroker with fuel injection.

New Business

Dave will be Dyno-ing his Cobra at the end of the month. He will get the word out if anyone wants to watch.

White Diamonds will give a 10% discount to club members, see above cruise nite. Who could ask for anything else, 10% for car parts and diamonds.

Chaos erupted, Blah, Blah, Blah.

Adjorned.

Many members went to the showroom to drool.

Boy the new Mustang is nice. That includes the gray 6 cylinder for $18,500 and the Saleen for $42,500. What a great car.
