President Speaks

Greetings Ford fans.

Peg and I just returned from a trip to Texas where we attended my daughter's graduation from college.  We saw many car toys being driven as well as lots of project cars on trailers.  Those lucky folks pretty much get to play with their cars year around. But, now is our time to enjoy our hobby.  My Maverick is almost done and ready to start driving.  The engine is in and running, but I have a few leaks and some fine tuning to attend too.  We also purchased a car lift called a "Kwiklift".  You can check them out online or if you wish, feel free to stop by and look at ours.  It is a good deal for those of us without enough ceiling height for a conventional hoist.  It is also very portable and uses not electricity, just a floor jack.  I found a very nice used one on Craig's list in Minneapolis.

I would also like to remind everyone cruise nights the first Thursday of the month are in full swing on Broadway.  Car shows are starting up, drag racing and stock car racing are starting and it looks like another full summer of car-mania. Peg and I are going to a show at Hankinson on the 17th and this car show pays cash rewards, should anyone else be interested.  We are also going to attend a few shows around the area we have never attended before including one in Aberdeen, South Dakota and one in Canada.  We were in the Prime Steel show in Grand Forks where they had another very successful show.  I spent some time visiting with their President about their club and they do an excellent job of putting on the show with only 19 members and raise quite a lot of money for donating to local causes.

So, fire up your Ford and get out there and have some fun. As a club we have some great summer events coming up and I look forward to everyone coming out and having a good time together.

Prez
Dean

From The Editor

Hi Northstar Mustangers,

Well, there is hope that spring could be here!  Warmer temperatures and a car show!  Good indications.  This weekend is Topper’s Car Show in West Fargo.  If you can, go over and take a look at the cars.  Sounds like the weather should be nice.

Someone asked why I talked to Valley Vintage about alcohol in old cars and not to our club.  I said I needed the practice.  So at the next meeting I will have a small presentation on the problems with alcohol in old cars.  I promise to keep it really short.  If you have questions about ethanol or biodiesel, I will try to answer them.

Take a look at the by-laws in last month’s newsletter…bring them with you to the meeting so we can discuss whether or not we should adopt some by-laws.  If so, what changes should be made to the what was printed.

Included in this newsletter is a membership list that is current as of April 1, 2008.  If there are any errors, please contact Colleen so she can get them corrected.  I apologize for the errors in the February listing.  I move something and didn’t double check before printing.

The mid-month is Tuesday, April 22 at Happy Joe’s on South University.  It seems people like the room we had there better.  This is a family event.  Let’s hope for a beautiful evening so we can get the Mustangs out for a little drive.  It usually starts about 6:00.

Thanks Brenda P for the cover picture for this month’s newsletter.  This is a picture from her cruise.

See you Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 at Luther Family Ford.

Elton and Colleen
