President Speaks

November, 2006

Hello all,

What club is this?  I can’t seem to remember since I have been out of the state most of the month, and will be gone during the meeting.  It is unfortunate as we are having the meeting at Quality Auto, and I was hoping to see a ‘Cuda on display.  Someone will have to tell me how it went.

Nomination of officers was held in October, and I am still not sure who or what was nominated.  Please show up at this meeting to help elect the new people, and throw your name in the hat if you were not able to attend the October meeting.  Who will be the lucky stiffs helping to steer this motley group in the right direction?  Cast your nomination to find out!  Again, I would like to point out that it would be an excellent idea for our new officers to ensure that the teams we have responsible for the car shows in 2007 get together prior to December with their respective sponsors to determine what they are looking for in a car show, and how we can accommodate their needs/requests.  I believe this will go a long way in ensuring we are not shooting at the hip next year when we are creating the flyers for Toppers.

I have received about a dozen surveys to date.  I will wait to see if there are anymore submitted at our meeting, and then present the results at the Christmas party.

Items for discussion in November,

  • Election of officers
  • Submissions of surveys
  • Picture submittals for 2007 calendar?
  • Other
Chuck (for those who can’t remember my name)

From the Editor

Hey Guys and Gals,

Our meeting will be at Quality Auto Body in Fargo this month.  This will give us a chance to meet with Ken Schwanke and maybe get some information about the Downtown Street Fair Car show.  I’m not sure if Ken has anything planned, but maybe we can get a tour of the shop also.

This is also the meeting where we elect new officers for next year.  We had nominations at the last meeting.  Rather than have no one running for President, I said I would run.  After thinking about it I would rather stay on as editor.  So if someone would be willing to step up and be president I’d be very happy.  Colleen is willing to be editor.  The job of President is not that bad.  This is your club, so step up and be a part of it.

Also at the meeting, we will be discussing membership dues and the calendar.  One idea that has been mentioned was increasing dues to $20/month but it would include a calendar.  We need you there to voice your opinion.  I’m not sure if it’s too late to get pictures in for the calendar, but if you have a good picture of your car, bring it to the meeting.

Next month will be our Christmas Party.  We will need to get a count of who plans to go, menu and such.

See you at the meeting at Quality Auto Body, 404 25th St S, Fargo.

Elton and Colleen

From The Secretary

October Meeting – October 10, 2006
We ate great food.
7:26 Meeting gaveled to order.
Colleen moved and Elton 2nd that we accept the minutes of the last meeting.
Treasurer reports the check book balanced and we have money.
Dean reported that we gave $250 to 61 for 61 in the memory of Helen Wicklund and Verna Johnson.
Mark reported that the Color Run was great for all 6 people and 3 cars that showed up. We have great pictures.
Turn in your surveys.
Turn in your surveys.
Turn in your surveys.
Turn in your surveys.
Calendar – Brenda via teleconference says we need pics by 31 Oct. She will be at Mustang Bowling if you can bring them then.
We will vote on what to do with dues and calendars at the election by presidential edict.
The suggestion from Todd is that we raise dues to $20 and include a calendar.
Greg F thought we should rebuild a Mustang and have Club rebuild it to be raffled off as a fund raiser for 61 for 61. Some discussion followed at which time Todd floated the idea of club members paying a fixed amount to have their car worked on by the group to help the member with their car and raise money for 61 for 61. More to follow. Stay tuned.
Chad says Quality Auto would like us to have a meeting at their shop. Chad will talk to Ken about having our meeting their next month.
Car Show talk followed. Dean S. will talk to Joel about Luther Valley Ford’s desires for next year.
Nominations were opened. I hope you can follow this, I’m not sure I can. If you can find a computer programmer to flow chart it for you, it might clarify it.
Web Master – Tad Burkhart (That much was easy)
Editor – (now the negotiations and flow charting begin) Elton and Colleen unless Elton is president, then Peg says she could do it. Colleen says she is set up for it and Peg said she could help.
Secretary – It doesn’t matter how bad you do, they still nominated me.
Treasurer – Dean S. nominated and accepted.
Vice President – Shawn said he might be willing to be V.P, Peg was nominated, and Brenda says she might be willing.
President – Shawn and Peg were nominated from the floor, (not excited) Elton says he is willing if someone else can do newsletter.
Car Show Chair – Island Park – Todd said he would, but Craig was nominated if he is willing since everyone thinks he did a great job.
All Ford Car Show – Dean S. volunteered (glutton for punishment)
Todd moved and Elton 2nd that we adjourn (I sense a trend, I think they want to leave). Everyone ran to the lot.

Mark
