President Speaks

Mustang lovers
Well it’s that time again. That’s right election time. We have a slate of officers, kind of. We could still have other candidates for president or any office and I may have to nominate someone myself! Really, if anyone is interested please let me know or better yet come to the meeting. If you are worried just remember I was president, how hard can it be? Really it isn’t that bad, everyone helps and you take the glory. Give it some thought but don’t think too hard and hurt yourself.

Shawn sent the picture of the Pumpkin. Thanks, it makes a good cover, even though it is just a little past Halloween. But that’s a nice job, makes a hard core Mustanger get into the mood of the season. Next month we need a Christmas picture! It’s nice not to have to look for some thing for the cover and an article.

The Christmas party is coming up. We will be at Courtyard by Marriot in Moorhead like last year. We will be doing a gift exchange, if you bring something you get to pick a gift. The meal is good and the people are great. Hope to see you there. Spouses are invited also.

I still haven’t heard a definitive word on the transmission fluid problem. Does any one out there know one way or the other what fluids are ok to use in older Fords? I looked in manuals but they all say to look in the owners manual. Well that only says that Ford says to use it’s fluid. But has the fluid changed? In other words, have they made the new fluid so it can be used in all transmissions - old and new. If you are sure let me know.

Well hope to see you at the meeting Tuesday. Remember the elections are this meeting, so if you are up for an office or are thinking about it please show up.

The Prez
Elton

From The Editor

Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe how long the nice weather lasted. Hope you had some opportunities to get out in your Mustang or classic Ford for some drives this summer and fall.

I heard there were a few people who showed up for Bowling last month. I was out of town, so missed out on that. Heard there are a number of new grandparent’s in the club…Congratulations to the Grandparents and Parents.

It’s now November…which means elections, deer hunting, Veteran’s Day, deer hunting, Thanksgiving, deer hunting, Christmas shopping and putting up the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations. Oh, Elton, did I mention deer hunting? So, the Mustang Club will have election of officers for 2008 at the November meeting. I haven’t seen any e-mails or campaign signs out…no one is calling for my vote or opinion…But then I’m not home much! We saw nearly everyone who was at the last meeting (and some who weren’t there, I think) nominated for vice-president or president!! See the secretary’s letter for nominations. I’m really not too sure who is on the ballot for president as there were nominations followed by “I respectfully decline” or “no” or something to that effect. If you are interested in being an officer for 2008, please show up at the November meeting and volunteer.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Christmas Party at Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead on Dec 11.
Hope to see you at the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Colleen

From The Secretary

October 9, 2007
6:30 Meeting gaveled precisely on time. If this type of precision keeps up, I don’t know if I can be held to that high of a standard.

Secretary’s Minutes – Todd moved and Peg seconds that we accept them as written. Passes unanimously. (No one was sure if they had read them and that is a standard I can live with.)

Treasurer’s report – We have money.

Old Business
Color Run was cancelled due to lack of participation. Elton said he and Dave went separate ways. (Speak of the devil and he shows up, Dave arrives.) Elton went northeast and Dave went southeast, neither found color.

We began to discuss the calendar and once again, speak of the devil, Brenda shows up. She needs captions for calendar pictures, deadline for pictures has past.

Todd and Brenda said we should talk about procedures for loaning out the club’s equipment. It seems that life events have precluded the need for this conversation.

New Business
We had introductions.
We didn’t talk about Jill and she showed up. (Broke our string, thought we could increase membership by talking about people.)

The Christmas party is set and Dean S will have menu at next meeting. There will be a white elephant gift exchange. It will be at the Marriot Courtyard.

We didn’t talk about Kristine and she came anyway. (So much for that theory.)

The midmonth meeting will be on Oct. 23rd and will consist of bowling at West Acres Bowl. Marv will be engaged in bowling avoidance in the bar.

Elton wanted to acknowledge and thank Travis B. for the article in the newsletter.

Peg is a grandma again and Rob is a grandpa also. Nothing was said about Dean.

Elton said the part department had a lot of neat stuff. Mark said he got a keyless entry pad for the door of his 2006 Taurus that worked with the key fob the car came with. It works with 2005 and newer Fords with remote locks.

Next we started the dreaded nominations.

Web Master – Tad nominated himself, Todd moves we close nominations and we do.
Editor of the Newletter – Colleen volunteers and Peg moves we close nominations.
Treasurer – Dean says sure, Colleen moves we close. So it was written.
Secretary – Colleen Nominates Mark, Dean moves we close.
Then it gets ugly.
Vice President Peg nominates Shawn
Peg nominates Jill
Todd nominates Peg (incumbent – respectfully declines)
Todd nominates Dave M (respectfully declines)
Todd nominates Brenda
Greg F moves we close nominations for now. (sounds ominous)
President Shawn nominates Peg (retaliation?)
Peg nominates Dave and Josh (self defense)
Tom nominates Dave M. (respectfully declines)(echo in here)
Peg nominates Randy Miller (declines)
Tom nominates Larry (declines)
Peg fires at everyone -Her finger is dangerous, watch where you point that thing
Prez tries to distract us with pictures for the calendar – we degrade to chaos.
Tom nominates Elton
Elton nominates Todd (after he steps aside from his illustrious position temporarily.)
Peg tries to nominate Todd again. (We only need one)
Brenda nominates Bruce
Bruce nominates Dean H.

Elton Ceases nominations.                       (Minutes are continued on bottom of Events/Want Ad Page)

SECRETARY'S MINUTES CONTINUED......

Other New Business

Greg thought replacing the fuel tank and lines on his 289 would fix his car, but it didn’t. He says it starts fine, but once warm it runs good at speed, but will not idle and when it dies, it is hard to start and runs rough when it does start. He would like help.

Peg moves we adjourn, Kristine seconds and it is unanimous.
Adjourned!
