President Speaks

October, 2006

Hello future officers,

September has flown by (like most months it seems), and I now find myself trying to figure out what I talked about at the last meeting.  Luckily for me, I am able to look at the secretary's notes to tell me that I gaveled in late, and a lot of people did something or other related to the car club for the most part).

We ad 20 people at Hagge's on the 26th.  Good time had by all, even if some people were trying to pawn off apples to unsuspecting parties!  I hadn't realized that apples in September were the same as zucchini in July!

Color run was on September 30th.  I am hoping that some of the attendees will share with us what colors they saw while on the run; and really hoping that it was not black, brown, red/pink, or any other liquid color that might leak out of a vehicle.

Also on September 30th, Dean presented a check from the Northstar Mustang group to 61 for 61.  The committee decided that since we had some extra money, that we would donate the total amount raised by the people's choice plus a matching fund by the club coffers.  We ended up donating $250 to the event.

Nominations of officers is being held this month.  Who will be the lucky stiffs helping to steer this motley group in the right direction?  Cast your nomination to find out in November!  On a side note regarding officers, I would like to ensure that the teams we have responsible for the car show sponsors for 2007 get together prior to December with their perspective sponsors to determine what they are looking for in a car show, and how we can accommodate their needs/requests.  I believe this will go a long way in ensuring we are not shooting at the hip next year when we are creating the flyers for Toppers.

Todd and I worked on a survey this past month to find out what our members are looking for in the Northstar Mustang Club.  Please fill out the survey and get it back to us so that we can start planning for next year, along with fiving the new officers and idea of what we would like to do as a club.  As you can see from the survey, a drawing will be held for all persons submitting a survey to me, either by mail, or in person.
Thank you for your time and effort on this.

An item that was brought up at the last meeting was of calendars.  I had suggested that we create the calendar to go from July to July, or August to August so that we might have a change of selling more of them at the car shows.  Mark U. suggested that maybe we could create a rotating calendar, with the starting month to coincide with when the person purchased the calendar.  Another thought is that we make it an 18 month calendar, and then rip off the month's that are past when the person buys it.  I would like to get this finalized this month so that we ca get the order in.

I look forward to seeing you all at Dean and Peg's Garage-Mahal this month.

Items for discussion is October,

  • Nomination of officers
  • Picture submittals for 2007 calendar
  • Other

Chad, (aww shoot, I can't think of what else a paper chad could have done to it...)

Club News

The meeting will be at Dean and Peg Skaflen's Garage-mahal in West Fargo.  (Translation...super nice garage!)  Please bring your own plates and silverware .  Also a dish (side) to share ... salad, desert, veggies ...(did I hear something about rice krispie bars?).  Please bring a chair to sit on as our kind hosts do not have chairs for everyone.  If you have a folding table of some sort that you could bring along also, that would b e helpful.

How to get to Dean and Peg's :  Head west on 13th Avenue South past Wal-mart, past Menard's, past Sunmart.  There is a stoplight at 9th St E, continue on to the next stoplight at 6th St E.  Take a left at the stoplights on 6th St E.  go to 15th Ave and turn right.  go west thru the curve and by the park, take the first right (Sterlint Court).  Park in the middle of the Cul de Sac.  Address is:  1422 Sterling Court in West Fargo.

From the Editor

Hi there Ford Lovers,
Maybe global warming is for real!  This weather is (at the minute) really nice, but just wait.  Last weekend's color run was really nice also. There were only three cars (6 people), but we had a nice time.  Had Colleen and I felt better, it would have been great.  We got some nice pictures with fall foliage, got in a nice drive and stopped to ask a Chevy driver if he needed help!   Mark and I also got to see some old tractors!  All in all a good day!

The survey we've included was discussed at the last meeting and at the mid-month at Hagge's.  It was decided to send it out with the newsletter and hope that members will fill it out and send it back (you can bring it to the meeting, if you wish) so we get a feel for what people want.  Please take a few minutes and answer the questions, give us your ideas.

Speaking of Hagge's that was a good turnout and good food.  Always nice to get together and talk cars. I almost talked the club into buying a chassis dyno. I don't know why they laughed, it's only $40,000.

Remember, we meet at Dean and Peg Skaflen's in West Fargo for the steak fry and meeting.  Time to nominate new officers.  So if you want a say in who gets nominated, please come.  Or if you just like good food or good company...be there.  See you.

Elton
