President Speaks

September, 2006

Hello September,

What a summer we have had, car shows galore, cruise night to the Dairy Queen, picnic at the park, monthly rendezvous to downtown Fargo... When does it end?

For this month's mid-month activity, the committee has decided to enjoy a fun-filled evening out at Hagge's Bar and Grill in Mapleton.  I hope everyone can make it. It is on Tuesday, September 26.  We will meet in the parking lot at Bonanzaville at 6:15.  We will have a sign up sheet at the meeting (remind me to do that) as Gar and Bev would like to have an idea of the number of people to expect.  If you can't make it to the meeting and plan to go, please e-mail or call me and let me know.

It sounds like the All Ford Show was a success.  I was able to make it for about a half hour, and then thought I had better skedaddle as Elton was accusing me over the PS system of stealing everything under the sun (which finally made it out that morning after the threat of hail in the news)...  Honest Officer, the water bottle was NOT stolen from Luther Ford, they gave it to me!  Thank you to everyone who helped with the car show.

I look forward to being at the Ford meeting this month and seeing all of you.

From The Editor

Hey Ford Lovers!
We made it through both Car Shows!  With only small superficial flesh wounds.  The show did ok given the weather forecast.  I think everyone should let Todd and Darcy and Dean and Peg know how much we appreciate all the work they put in on the Car Shows.  And I believe the people (politically correct) that manned the concession stands for both shows really deserve a round of applause.  In the heat that was some job.  Also to all those that parked cars and judged cars, we should say thanks.  I always forget my wife and daughter who do a lot of work, thanks Colleen and Tracy.  And a big thanks to Joel and Luther Family Ford for helping us put on another successful show.

That being said I really think now is the time to talk to sponsors and see what they want. Also I think we should put together a draft of the flyers for next years' shows so they are ready when we need them in March for Toppers.

I received a call about a car show at the Arthur Good Samaritan Center in Arthur on Sunday, September 17th from 11 till 2:30.  Included is a ham dinner.  I will have more details, so if you're interested please call.  The reason they are asking is that is the same weekend as the Valley Vintage show.  So they need to show up at their show for the residents.  It would be a good public service type event for the club to participate in.

Remember next month is nominations of officers!  That's right it is that time again.  So be prepared to defend yourself or prepare your acceptance speech!

Well enough ramblings.  See you at the meeting September 12 at Luther Family Ford.  Yes we're back where we belong at Luther. Be there.

Elton

From The Secretary

August Meeting - August 8, 2006

Meeting was held at the Moorhead River Arts Festival Car Show.  We met on the lawn by the Moorhead Center Mall. Vice-President Brenda called the meeting to order somewhere around 6:30.  Secretary was not there, so I took notes and have since mis-placed them.  Should have done what Mark does and type them up right away!!  So we will see what I can remember.

I believe there was some discussion on the Downtown Street Fair Car Show.  Todd brought up that we had received a letter about paying a fee so we could play music.  It is $60 for a year.  Motion to pay it was approved.

We now have a trailer with our logo on it to store things for the club and our car shows.  Todd also talked about getting stickers made with the club logo.  That was approved also.

Dean and Peg have things pretty much under control for the All Ford Car Show on Aug. 12.  People should be there at 7:30 to help set up. If you can't be there early, stay late to help clean up.

Jon B asked about using our sound system at the Potato Days Car Show.  Discussion about cost. Motion made by someone to let him use it and send our sound person/announcer (Elton) with to operate it.  After checking with his wife, Elton agreed to do it.  Jon also asked for people to help out at the car show.

Todd said our club is in charge of helping with the Broadway Cruise Night on Thursday, Sept 7.  He asked for volunteers to be there early to help with parking. Some people volunteered.

Meeting sort of adjourned...disintegrated...evaporated...

Colleen
