President Speaks

Greetings club members!
Wow. Here we are-September. Summer has flown by as they all seem to. By the time you get this our All Ford Show will be over as well as the last "Cruise Night" in downtown Fargo. While on the subject of cruise night, I approached the West Fargo Chamber and if all goes well we will have Cruise Night in West Fargo also next year.
along Sheyenne Street. Details to follow. Also in September we have the Mayville car show in their park as well as the Valley Vintage show that goes along with West Fest-both very nice shows I would recommend you enter or visit. The Mayville show is in a very nice setting and the Front Fenders provide entertainment-a great place to show off a few of our club cars. Lastly, I have not forgotten about doing an all club show at the Fargodome parking lot but time did not allow it this year so I will try put it together next year. New ideas are always welcome so please contact me if you have some thoughts.

I would like to take a non-Ford minute and congratulate Peggy on her Volkswagen being in this months Hot VW magazine. There is a photo of her car on page 82 along with a note of her class win and name, etc. Who would have thought?

So, fall is approaching fast so get out and enjoy the nice days while you can and start thinking of what you want to do to your Fords over the winter-rebuild, upgrade, or even start a new project and share them with your club members. Have a great one!
Your Prez,
Dean

From The Editor

Hey Ford people!

By the time you get this, it may be too late to go to the All Ford Car Show at Luther Family Ford. If not, please come, we need your help and your cars! If you get this after the Car Show, I hope you were there and had fun.

If you missed the Picnic you missed good food and a few laughs. So in answer to the burning question at the picnic: "What are the seven Wonders of the Ancient World?" I found this list of the different wonders and said well I need an article so why not! Turns out we had 4 right but kind of missed the rest. And I was so sure the Library at Alexandria was one. Oh well.

But my question is "Where does the Model T and the Mustang fit in?" They should be in there somewhere. If not, the moving assembly line or the V8. Now maybe I am just a little biased but I really think that they should be recognized as wonders of the world. Well any way this should clear up any arguments. I suppose we could start a new seven wonders. I have often wondered why any one ever bought a Gremlin or Pacer, or a Corvair or a Vega, or for that matter, a Chevy of any kind? Right Mark?

Well enough. It is getting to the end of the summer season and I didn't get as much done as I wanted to but there is still some time (I keep telling myself that). Tim called and asked if I had a three speed transmission for a 289. I said I had one from a 6 cylinder and he said they were different. I'm not sure, does anyone know off the top of their head? Are they lighter built? Tim thought they were German built. But that started me thinking, I better get started on my winter project rebuilding a 64 - 289 so I can be ready for spring with a rebuilt engine and a new clutch and trany.

The front cover is from an ad for a seed company. Of course they would use a… Mustang they wanted real power! Well see you Saturday hopefully. If not, Tuesday night at the meeting.

Elton
