President Speaks

Dec 6th, 2004

Greetings Fellow Mustangers…

Gee wiz; did anyone see where the last year went?  I remember what seems like a month or two ago trying to figure out what to say at our Christmas Party last year.  I remember getting to the Motel early, sitting down with a blank notebook page and searching desperately for a thought.   When I finally started scribbling, it came out with a lot of thank yous.

I think this letter may say a lot of the same things. Thank You! To all of you who make this group such agreat club. Thank you for the faith (or was I the only one that would take this job) that you have in me to lead you as your president. It was a humbling experience, being re-elected. I have always tended to enjoy working behind the scenes to get things done. But has been a great year leading as your president.

Thank You to all of the officers, who provided me with the support I needed when we had big decisions to make, you guys & gals were only a phone call or quick meeting away, and without too much debating we made the decisions we had to make, and I can’t think of a single one I’d go back and change, it’s been a great year.

Thank you to the people who stepped forward when the club needed you, from the cooking of the brats, counting ballots, to playing traffic cop at the car shows.  Tthere are so many people to thank, just take a moment for yourself and look at the membership list.  I’ll bet you could match just about every name to something that that individual stepped out to help out with. With members like you, it makes my job so easy, I think anyone could handle it. (Volunteers anyone??)

I’m going to close this short by recognizing a few members as a preview of our next event, our 15th?? Annual Christmas party!! This coming Tuesday Night @ 6:00! Expressway Inn

Larry Heyd has once again done a fantastic job getting it all set up. (if you have not RSVP’d him by now it may be too late, Give him a call, he may be able to sneak you in, but we are limited by room size so this late in the game first come first in.) Call Larry at Home 293-3377

Next I would like to mention Brenda Platt, Brenda has put together a great 2005 edition Northstar Mustangs Calendar, we will be cutting it razor thin getting them back by Tuesday nite. But they will look better than anything we’ve had before. Bring your checkbook!!

Then I would like to thank Craig Johnson for volunteering to MC the evening to save you all from my eternal rambling. Tim for escorting some of our guests from Quality Auto, Dakota Bumper and Luther Family Ford who sponsored our Car shows this year.

And Last but not least, Dean Herold, Colleen and Elton for shopping for over 40 door prizes!! It’s going to be a great evening, hope you all can make it.

On behalf of my first lady, Darcy and I;

We hope this Christmas season brings with it, the wonder you had as children, with the blessings we have as adults. Also may your new year be filled with hope and opportunities to reach for and achieve.

Merry Christmas, and a Very Happy New Year
Your President
George Washington
Todd Fuchs
PS The Jackets are done; I’ll bring them Tuesday nite.

I chose Washington this time, not because I’m a great leader nor our 1st prez, but out of respect for the men who followed him. “half naked, two thirds starved, as they marched barefoot in the snow in a country overflowing with plenty.” -Major General Nathanael Green 1779.  It’s a sober reminder that there are men and women not home this Christmas, so that we remain a country of plenty.  May God bless them all and the family's that wait for there return.

From The Editor

Hey, It’s Christmas!

Every year we have a party the month after elections.  Is there some hidden meaning here?    I wonder?  Maybe we are celebrating the new officers we elected.  On the other hand, maybe we are celebrating not getting elected (more likely).  N any case, the Christmas party is always a good time.  So if you can make it, it is a fun time…door prizes, presentations form the summer car shows, lots of car talk…and FOOD.

Speaking of cars, while I was out hunting I came across an old car frame from somewhere in the early 1900’s.  It looked strange…all of a sudden I realized the steering wheel was on the right side.  It’s hard to believe how close the US came to having right hand drive cars.

Brenda, our calendar person, suggested that we try to take pictures during the year, so  we get pictures from the different seasons, holidays, etc.  And we best start now to get winter shots.  If anyone has their car out in the snow and cold, we can use the picture.  Think about it.

See you at the meeting.  Remember, it is at the Expressway Inn.  Social hour at 6:00, dinner server at 6:30!!

We wish you all a merry Christmas and happy New Year.  May Santa bring you that Mustang or Mustang item you asked for!!

Elton and Colleen
